freeform cheek
September 13th, 2010
I started the cheeks as a seperate piece. Here you can see one attached and the other side I've just started. Once the main part has been beaded, I stitch it onto the side of the nose, the bottom of the eye, then bead directly onto the piece until the cheek meets with the cupid's bow then I stitch them together, allowing it to pucker a bit so the cheek is somewhat rounded.
The main "flesh" color for my green man is gold luster green, with depth (eyelid creases, tear ducts, upper lip edge) in metalic green. When I wrapped the eyes, I made the tear ducts metalic knowing that I would continue that into the swirls of his cheeks and eyebags and temples.
