freeform cheeks
September 13th, 2010
The cheeks are attached, and I continued the flat freeform swirls up to his temples.
Halfway through stitching on the left cheek, I realized it was upside-down. Luckily it was only stitched in about 6 places with no knots so I was able to take it off easily, flip it, and reattach it correctly. I point this out (mostly to my students) because no one is perfect... in twenty years of beading I've learned that 1: no amount of experience will make you perfect, and 2: a mistake can sometimes be the best teacher... a cleverly disguised lesson... a sheep in wolf's clothing, if you will... learn from your mistakes.
